Srinagar, April 21 (KINS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is likely to visit Ramban district today to assess the damage caused by recent flash floods and landslides.

Parts of Ramban were severely affected following incessant rains that triggered flash floods and landslides, resulting in large-scale destruction. The calamity has claimed at least three lives, while several houses, shops, and vehicles have been damaged or washed away.

According to an official source, the Chief Minister is expected to personally visit the affected areas to take stock of the situation. “He wants to assess the situation on the ground himself. The visit may also include interactions with families who have suffered losses due to the natural disaster,” the official told KINS.

The administration has already initiated relief and rescue operations in the area, but many areas remain inaccessible due to debris and damaged roads. Authorities are working round the clock to restore connectivity and provide aid to the affected families.

Meanwhile, political leaders and civil society groups have urged the government to announce immediate compensation for the victims and prioritize infrastructure repair in the region.

Further updates on the visit and relief measures are awaited. (KINS)
