St. Joseph’s Baramulla Clinches Alpha Inter-School Hockey Championship Title

Srinagar, June 11: St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, Baramulla scripted history by emerging champions of the prestigious Alpha Inter-School Hockey Championship, defeating Government Higher Secondary School Jawahar Nagar 3-1 in a thrilling final played at the Synthetic Hockey Astro Turf, Polo Ground, Srinagar.
Organized by Badal Hockey Club, the championship witnessed participation from 32 leading school teams from across Kashmir, making it one of the most competitive inter-school hockey tournaments in the Valley.
The closing ceremony was attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who was the chief guest on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor lauded the discipline, dedication and exemplary sportsmanship displayed by the participating teams. He later presented the championship trophy and a cash prize of ₹1 lakh to the victorious St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School team.
Displaying remarkable skill, teamwork and tactical excellence throughout the tournament, St. Joseph’s remained unbeaten and delivered consistent performances to lift the title. The team was captained by Prabveer Singh and coached by Master Mansoor Ahmad Peer.
Adding to the school’s success, St. Joseph’s players also secured major individual honours, including the Player of the Match and Goalkeeper of the Tournament awards.
The school administration, faculty and Physical Education Department congratulated the players, coach and support staff for the outstanding achievement. They described the victory as a reflection of the institution’s commitment to promoting sporting excellence, discipline and the holistic development of students.
