Summer vacation extended till July 26 in Kashmir

Srinagar, July 21 (KINS): The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday extended the summer vacation for all government and recognized private schools in the Kashmir Division and the winter zones of the Jammu Division till July 26, 2026, citing the safety and well-being of students, teachers and their families.
Announcing the decision, Education Minister Sakina Itoo said the extension had been approved keeping the welfare of all stakeholders in mind.
“Keeping the safety and well-being of students, teachers, and their families as our foremost priority, the summer vacation for all Government and recognized private schools in the Kashmir Division and Winter Zones of Jammu Division is hereby extended up to 26th July, 2026,” she said..
The schools were earlier scheduled to reopen after the previous summer break. However, with Kashmir continuing to witness unusually high temperatures, the government decided to prolong the vacation by another week.
