POJK situation alarming, reports of civilian killings raise serious concerns: Sunil Sethi

Jammu, June 11 (KINS): Expressing serious concern over reports of large-scale civilian killings in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK), Jammu and Kashmir BJP Chief Spokesperson Sunil Sethi on Wednesday described the situation in the region as “critical and alarming.”

Sethi claimed that more than a hundred people had reportedly lost their lives at the hands of police and security forces in POJK. He alleged that the residents of the region were being targeted for demanding development and the recognition of their fundamental rights.

He said the people of POJK were living under difficult conditions with little regard for basic human rights. According to Sethi, many residents were looking towards the development model of Jammu and Kashmir and seeking similar opportunities and rights.

The BJP leader further stated that the people living in POJK, which he described as a part of India under Pakistan’s illegal occupation since 1947-48, continued to await what he termed as freedom and self-determination. He alleged that the region remained deprived of the rights and democratic freedoms enjoyed elsewhere.

Sethi also said that the developments in POJK should serve as a wake-up call for those in Jammu and Kashmir who support Pakistan. He alleged that Pakistan had, for decades, misled and exploited generations of youth by encouraging terrorism and unrest in the region.

Drawing parallels with historical events, Sethi claimed that Pakistan was repeating mistakes similar to those committed in the past and warned that the aspirations of the people of POJK could not be suppressed through the use of force.

The BJP spokesperson further cautioned that Pakistani agencies might attempt to divert attention from the situation in POJK by sponsoring terror-related activities in India, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir. He urged people to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious movement, activity, or object to the police and security agencies.(KINS)
