Srinagar, June 26 (KINS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today addressed a press conference at Raj Bhawan, Srinagar, to review and highlight the preparations for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2025, scheduled to commence on July 3. He appealed to devotees across the country to participate in large numbers in the holy pilgrimage of Baba Barfani.
The LG assured that a multi-layered security grid has been put in place, with the Indian Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and J&K Police ensuring all necessary arrangements for a safe and peaceful Yatra. “The administration is fully prepared to provide pilgrims with a hassle-free and spiritually enriching experience,” he said.
Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB) has made comprehensive arrangements for movement, accommodation, electricity, water, sanitation, communication, and healthcare for the devotees. The LG emphasized that the atmosphere at the base camps is filled with spiritual fervour and all stakeholders are working in unison to ensure a smooth Yatra.
Key Highlights Shared by LG Sinha:
Wider and Safer Tracks: Most stretches on both routes have been widened to 12 feet. The Kalimata stretch, earlier steep and narrow, now has a gentler slope. Safety handrails have been installed across the entire Baltal route and over 20 km of vulnerable Pahalgam track.
Power and Lighting: Grid connectivity has been achieved from Baltal to the Holy Cave and up to Panjtarni. Work on the remaining Pahalgam stretch is underway, ensuring fully illuminated tracks and camps.
Enhanced Accommodation: Yatri Niwas capacities have been increased – Baltal (800), Nunwan (900), and Pantha Chowk (1000 pilgrims).
Digital Prepaid System: Services like pony, pithu, and palki are now accessible via a digital prepaid system to reduce inconvenience.
Improved Darshan Facilities: The wooden Darshan platform at the Holy Cave has been replaced with a stainless-steel structure allowing simultaneous Darshan in four rows, improving crowd management.
Weather Protection: A canopy has been installed over the Holy Cave stairs to protect yatris from rain, snow, and heat.
Healthcare Facilities: Clinical bed capacity at Panjtarni and other upper camps has been significantly increased. 100-bedded hospitals are operational on both Baltal and Pahalgam axes.
Security & Monitoring: Integrated Command and Control Centres have been set up, and security has been enhanced at tourist spots. Vulnerable areas have been identified for special attention.
Sustainability Focus: Special emphasis is being placed on cleanliness and eco-friendly practices throughout the Yatra route.
Additional Facilities: Prasad counters, foot over bridges, cloakrooms, e-rickshaws, and other essential services have been made available for both pilgrims and service providers.
The LG appreciated the support of local residents, civil society, and the media in the successful conduct of the Yatra over the years. He also urged all pilgrims to travel in designated convoys and follow all safety protocols to ensure a secure and fulfilling pilgrimage.(KINS)
