Restoration of Statehood demand of every person in J&K: Deputy CM Surindar Chowdhary

Restoration of Statehood demand of every person in J&K: Deputy CM Surindar Chowdhary

Srinagar, Oct 09 (KINS): Deputy Chief Minister Surindar Chowdhary on Thursday said that the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir is the demand of every person in the Union Territory.

Talking to reporters, according to news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS), Chowdhary took a jibe at Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, saying that the National Conference (NC) was not the only party concerned about the issue.

“Everyone in J&K wants the restoration of statehood. Sunil Sharma is asking what we have done in one year. He should first explain what the BJP has done in the last eleven years,” Chowdhary said.

Responding to Sharma’s remark that Raj Bhawan has approved a majority of files passed by the Omar Abdullah-led cabinet, the Deputy Chief Minister retorted, “If he talks about approvals, ask him why our business rules file has been pending for almost a year.”

Chowdhary also launched a scathing attack on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), holding its president Mehbooba Mufti responsible for the political turmoil in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Mehbooba Mufti is responsible for allying with the BJP, which eventually led to the abrogation of Article 370 and the downgrading of J&K into two Union Territories,” he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister reiterated that the present administration is committed to fulfilling the aspirations of the people. “Restoration of statehood is not just a political issue—it is an emotional demand of every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said. (KINS)
