Ranbir Singh Pathania terms NC Govt “confused, directionless, and a total failure”

Srinagar, Oct 28 (KINS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader and MLA from Udhampur East, Ranbir Singh Pathania, launched a sharp attack on the National Conference (NC)-led government in Jammu and Kashmir, calling it “confused, directionless, and a total failure in governance.”

Speaking to news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) after the ongoing Assembly session on Tuesday, Pathania accused Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of failing to meet the people’s expectations. “Mr. Omar Abdullah’s government has failed on every front. It seems confused and unable to deliver even basic governance. Over the past year, instead of solving public issues, the government has only blamed the Centre and played the victim card,” he said.

The BJP MLA strongly criticised the administration for not resolving the long-pending issues of daily wagers. “More than six months have passed since the committee on daily wagers was constituted, yet no recommendations have come forward. This clearly exposes the inefficiency and inaction of the government,” he said.

Pathania also mentioned that discontent is growing even within the ruling party’s ranks. “Legislators from areas like Lolab, Poonch, and Kokernag have openly expressed dissatisfaction, accusing the government of neglecting their constituencies. When even ruling party MLAs are unhappy, it shows how disconnected the government has become from the ground realities,” he remarked.

Despite the brief session, Pathania said the BJP was determined to highlight vital issues. “Yesterday we raised the plight of daily wagers. Today, we discussed problems related to transfers, promotions, flood compensation, and the functioning of cooperative banks,” he added.

He said that BJP was disappointed that the session was too short to properly discuss key public issues. “We wanted this Assembly session to continue for more days,” he noted.

Commenting further on the Daily wagers issue he said, “Thousands of daily wagers have retired without any benefits. Their condition is tragic. The government must act immediately to bring them justice,” he stressed.

Commenting on the detention of MLA Mehraj Malik and the NC’s demand for a discussion on the issue in the Assembly, Pathania said, “He is an elected MLA and has every right to represent his people, but as he is currently under detention under the Public Safety Act (PSA), the matter is sub judice. Until the court decides his case, we cannot discuss it in the House. It is unfortunate that despite knowing the legal limitations, some NC MLAs are still insisting on raising this issue in the Assembly.”(KINS)
