Dry weather expected across J&K from November 6 to 16: MeT

Srinagar, Nov 05 (KINS): After witnessing light to moderate rain and snowfall in higher reaches on Wednesday, the Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecasted a dry weather across Jammu and Kashmir between November 6 and 16.

According to the latest bulletin, November 5 remained generally dry, though a brief spell of light rain occurred at isolated places.

From tomorrow, the region is likely to experience stable and dry conditions till 16 November, providing a much-needed respite for residents and favourable conditions for farmers to continue their agricultural activities.

The forecast as per news agency Kashmir Indpeth News Service (KINS) further suggests that November 17–18 may see partly to generally cloudy skies, but no significant weather activity has been predicted.

The MET Centre has also issued an advisory indicating a fall in both maximum and minimum temperatures across several parts of the Union Territory and urged farmers to carry on with routine farm operations during the dry spell.(KINS)

Two long-time absconders arrested after over a decade in Poonch

Jammu, Nov 05 (KINS): Police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district have arrested two absconders who had been evading arrest for years in separate criminal cases, officials said on Wednesday.

According to police, Burju, a resident of Chandimarh village, was wanted in a case registered at Surankote Police Station in 2013 under Section 436 of the Ranbir Penal Code, which pertains to mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy a dwelling. Despite extensive efforts, he had remained underground for over a decade before being arrested on Tuesday.

After completing all legal formalities, Burju was produced before the competent court of law for further proceedings, a police spokesperson said.

In another operation, police arrested Mohd Rayaz of Gursai, who had been absconding since 2017 in a case registered at Gursai Police Station involving charges of criminal trespass, rioting, and causing hurt.

Police said both arrests mark significant progress in their continued efforts to trace and apprehend long-time fugitives across the district.(KINS)
