BUDGAM, NOVEMBER 8: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, today convened a meeting at the DC Office Complex to review and discuss the progress regarding the expansion of Srinagar Civil Airport.
The meeting was attended by the Director, Srinagar International Airport, officials from the Defence Authorities, Tehsildar Budgam, and other senior officers from the District Administration Budgam.
At the outset, the Director, Srinagar International Airport briefed the Deputy Commissioner about the present status of the expansion project, including issues related to land acquisition, demarcation, and coordination with defence and civil departments. Detailed deliberations were held on various aspects of the project, including expediting administrative and technical formalities to ensure smooth implementation.
On the occasion, the DC highlighted the importance of the airport’s expansion, terming it a project of significant public and economic importance for the entire region. He said that the expansion will not only enhance passenger handling capacity but also strengthen connectivity and boost tourism and trade.
The DC directed all concerned departments to maintain close coordination and adopt a time-bound approach in resolving any pending issues, particularly those related to land acquisition and clearance processes.
He emphasized that all procedural formalities should be completed at the earliest to avoid unnecessary delays.
He further instructed the Tehsildar Budgam and revenue officials to ensure that all relevant land records, demarcations, and mutation processes are completed promptly and accurately.
The DC also directed that all communications between civil and defence authorities be streamlined for faster resolution of technical or administrative bottlenecks.
The DC said that district administration is fully committed to facilitating the expansion project and extending all necessary support to the concerned departments. He urged all stakeholders to work in coordination and ensure that the project progresses smoothly in line with established timelines.
