Son-in-law arrested for murdering mother-in-law in Srinagar’s Botakadal

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police Saturday arrested a person at Botakadal area of Srinagar for murdering his mother-in-law.
A police official said that police post Lal Bazar received an information that a woman identified as Saleema wife of Late Muhammad Qasim, resident of Gulshan Bagh, Botakadal was assaulted by her son-in-law, resulting in her on the spot death.
“The accused has been identified as Shabir Ahmed Bhat, S/o Abdul Salaam Bhat, a resident of Pattan area of Baramulla. Bhat had married Saleema’s daughter and was living at his in-laws house for some time,” the official said.
He said that a case under FIR number 45/2023 under section 302 IPC has been registered in police station Lal Bazar. “The accused was evading arrest and now has been arrested,” the official said, adding that further investigation is on.
