CHINAR CORPS CELEBRATES DEFENCE FORCES VETERANS’ DAY

Srinagar, 14 Jan 2026 : Defence Forces Veterans’ Day is observed every year on 14 Jan to commemorate superannuation of First Commander-in-Chief of Indian Armed Forces, Field Marshal KM Cariappa, OBE.

“This day, we celebrate the indomitable spirit and service of soldiers who have served the Nation with pride. This year Defence Forces Veterans’ Day was organised under the aegis of Chinar Corps at Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry Regimental Centre, Srinagar on 14 Jan 2026 wherein GOC, Chinar Corps, Senior officials, Veterans, Veer Matas, Veer Naris and Gallantry awardees were present,” an army statement said.

Despite severe chill, the warmth exuded by our Veterans and their enthusiasm was palpable. The event celebrated their service to the Nation and was also leveraged to provide first-hand information on various welfare schemes undertaken by the Central and UT Government.

Chinar Corps Commander felicitated the distinguished attendees and thanked them for their service & sacrifice, and assured them of continuous assistance from the Administration and the Army, the statement added.
