DGP J&K reviews security situation, ongoing anti-terror operations at DPO Shopian

Srinagar, Jan 21 (KINS): The Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir,Nalin Prabhat (IPS), on Wednesday chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Conference Hall of the District Police Office (DPO), Shopian, to assess the prevailing security situation and review ongoing anti-terror operations ahead of Republic Day–2026.

The meeting was attended by Special DGP Coordination S.J.M. Gillani (IPS), IGP Kashmir Zone V.K. Birdi (IPS), DIG South Kashmir Range Javaid Iqbal Matoo (IPS), SSP Shopian Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary (JKPS), besides other gazetted officers and SHOs of Shopian district.

During the meeting, the DGP undertook a comprehensive review of law and order management, counter-terror preparedness, crime control measures and security arrangements for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations. He stressed the need for heightened vigilance, foolproof security planning, intensified area domination and strengthened intelligence-led operations to ensure peaceful and incident-free celebrations.

Addressing the officers, Nalin Prabhat issued clear directions for firm and decisive action against anti-national elements posing threats to public safety, peace and tranquillity. Reiterating a zero-tolerance policy towards activities inimical to national security, he emphasized sustained and focused operations against such elements.

The DGP also urged officers to maintain a people-friendly policing approach, while continuing to work with dedication, professionalism and commitment to uphold the rule of law and ensure a secure environment for the citizens of Shopian district.(KINS)
