Intense snowstorm batters Kashmir, several areas receive up to five feet of snow in 15 hours

Srinagar, Jan 23 (KINS): According to Kashmir Weather, an intense and short-lived snowstorm swept across several parts of the Kashmir Valley, bringing exceptionally heavy snowfall within a span of just 15 hours and turning it into one of the most aggressive winter events of the season.
Regions close to the Pir Panjal range were the worst hit. As per Kashmir Weather, the plains of Shopian district recorded snowfall ranging between 1.5 to 3 feet, while the higher reaches of Shopian witnessed an extraordinary accumulation of up to five feet during the brief spell.
The impact of the snowstorm was not limited to Shopian alone. Kashmir Weather reported that parts of Budgam, Pulwama, Kulgam, Kupwara, and Baramulla districts were also affected. In the higher reaches of these areas, snow accumulation ranged from 2 to 5 feet, all within the same short duration.
The heavy snowfall disrupted normal life across the Valley, affecting road connectivity, power supply, and daily activities, while authorities remained on alert to deal with the situation.(KINS)
