Iran Declares Strait of Hormuz ‘Completely Open’ During Ceasefire

KINS Desk
Iran Apr 17: Iran has announced that the Strait of Hormuz will remain “completely open” for all commercial vessels during the ongoing ceasefire period.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the decision ensures uninterrupted passage for global shipping through the crucial oil transit route. He stated that vessels can move through the strait via coordinated routes designated by Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organisation.
The announcement was echoed by US President Donald Trump, who confirmed that the waterway is “fully open” for navigation. However, he added that the US naval blockade will continue in “full force” until broader negotiations with Iran are concluded.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical energy corridors, and the reopening during the ceasefire is seen as a significant move to stabilise global oil supply. Following the announcement, crude oil prices reportedly dropped by around 10 percent, reflecting easing concerns over potential supply disruptions.
