People suffering due to ‘dual power centres’ in J&K: Karra

Jammu, May 20 (KINS): J&K Congress president Tariq Hameed Karra on Wednesday accused the Centre of failing to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and alleged that people were suffering under a “dual control system” after the Assembly elections.

Addressing a workers’ convention in Jammu, Karra said people were “sandwiched between two power centres”, calling it a betrayal of the public mandate. He claimed the BJP failed to restore statehood after not securing enough seats to form the government.

Karra also alleged that districts in Jammu region had suffered after the abrogation of Article 370 and downgrading of the erstwhile state into a Union Territory. He claimed local youth were being deprived of jobs and resources.

He said the Congress was fighting for restoration of statehood through its “Hamari Riyasat, Hamara Haq” campaign.

Senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla, while addressing the gathering, accused the BJP of promoting divisive politics and alleged that rising drug abuse and mafia activities had become major concerns in Jammu.(KINS)
