Bandipora Police rescue over 80 people after cloudbursts,flash floods

Bandipora, Aug 03 (KINS): Bandipora Police rescued more than 80 people after cloudbursts and flash floods caused by heavy rainfall hit several parts of the district on Monday.
Acting on the directions of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), police teams rushed to affected areas, including Arin, Dardpora, Sumlar, Aragam and other vulnerable locations, soon after receiving reports of flooding.
In Neelupati Sirender, police rescued over 80 stranded people and shifted them to safer places. At Tota Mode, two families were safely evacuated after their houses were damaged by flash floods, while three houses were damaged in Sathri.
In Gori Hajin and Aragam, police, with the help of JCB machines, evacuated several families trapped by floodwaters. Police also rescued passengers stranded near the Tangwani-Garoora bridge after water levels rose suddenly.
Although several houses and public infrastructure were damaged, no loss of life was reported due to the timely rescue operations carried out by the police and other emergency teams.
Police personnel remain deployed in vulnerable areas to monitor the situation, help affected residents and respond to any emergency. The public has been advised to stay alert, avoid flood-prone areas and follow the advisories issued by the district administration.
Residents appreciated the prompt response of Bandipora Police, praising their efforts to protect lives during the natural disaster.(KINS)
