DGP J&K reviews security arrangements ahead of Independence Day celebrations
Srinagar, Aug 13 (KINS): Director General of Police (DGP), Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, IPS, on Thursday chaired a high-level security review meeting at Police Control Room (PCR), Kashmir, to assess preparedness and finalise arrangements for the smooth and peaceful conduct of Independence Day celebrations across the Union Territory.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from J&K Police, Central Armed Police Forces and other security agencies, including Special DGP Coordination, ADGP CID, senior officers of BSF, CRPF, SSB, IGPs of Kashmir, Jammu, Security, Railways and Traffic, DIGs, Range officers, District SSPs and other officials.
During the meeting, the DGP reviewed the overall security scenario and stressed the need for heightened alertness, intelligence-based operations and swift response mechanisms to maintain a strong security grid. He directed officers to ensure effective deployment of manpower, enhanced area domination and close coordination among all agencies.
Reviewing arrangements at major venues, particularly Bakhshi Stadium in Srinagar, Shri Nalin Prabhat emphasised proper traffic regulation and parking management to facilitate smooth movement of people attending the Independence Day function. He instructed officers to ensure adequate public facilities and minimise inconvenience to visitors.
Detailed discussions were held on deployment plans, intelligence inputs, traffic management, access control, anti-sabotage measures, frisking procedures, route security and surveillance arrangements. The DGP directed officers to intensify night patrolling, naka checking and surveillance at vulnerable locations and inter-district borders.
He also underscored the importance of strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and effective inter-agency coordination to prevent any untoward incident.
The meeting concluded with a firm resolve to ensure foolproof security and the peaceful conduct of Independence Day celebrations across Jammu and Kashmir.(KINS)
