Jammu, Sep 10 (KINS): The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) posted at Police Post Talwara in Reasi district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000.

The ACB said a case under FIR No. 08/2026 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, was registered at ACB Police Station Udhampur following a complaint against the police official.

According to the Bureau, the ASI had allegedly demanded illegal gratification from the complainant in return for presenting a challan against accused persons before the court.

After verifying the complaint, the ACB laid a trap and caught the official while allegedly demanding and accepting Rs 5,000 from the complainant. The bribe amount was recovered from his possession in the presence of independent witnesses.

The accused was arrested following due legal procedure, while further investigation into the case is underway. The ACB said it was the second trap operation conducted at Police Post Talwara in Reasi district this year.(KINS)
