JK Govt Dismisses Teacher for Anti-National Activities

Srinagar, Mar 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Government made a decisive move on Friday, dismissing Manzoor Ahmed Laway, a teacher in the education department, under Article 311 of the Constitution of India. “Laway, son of Mohammad Yaqoob Laway from Manzgam, DH Pora, District Kulgam, was found to be involved in anti-national activities detrimental to the state’s interests.
Law enforcement and intelligence agencies flagged Laway’s activities, citing his participation in actions prejudicial to the state, including terror-related activities. Laway’s involvement in two FIRs registered at Police Station DH Pora, Kulgam, highlighted his role as an instigator in inciting mobs to cause damage to government property,” the government said.
“One such incident on 09.07.2016 witnessed Laway and his associates leading a mob to loot arms, ammunition, and government property from the Police Station DH Pora, culminating in setting the station ablaze.
Another incident on 10.09.2016 saw Laway and his associates leading an unruly mob in pelting stones at a joint police and security forces party, resulting in indiscriminate firing on the police. Laway’s position as a teacher further exacerbated concerns, as he failed in his responsibility to guide students away from activities detrimental to state security, instead actively fostering secessionism among them”.
The government’s zero-tolerance policy towards anti-national elements in government service prompted the dismissal of Laway, marking the 57th instance where Article 311 of the Constitution of India was invoked for such purposes.
