Srinagar, April 29: Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, led a high-level meeting today to evaluate the flood situation and coordinate rescue efforts amidst relentless heavy rainfall.

Attended by key officials including DIG Police, Deputy Commissioners, and representatives from various departments, the meeting focused on strategizing response measures.

Emphasizing proactive measures, Div Com instructed the continuous operation of Control Rooms across all districts to monitor the flood situation round the clock. Additionally, senior officers and field staff were directed for essential service restoration and emergency response.

Furthermore, the integration of senior officers at the Integrated Command & Control Centre was mandated to ensure seamless coordination and accurate dissemination of information.

In anticipation of potential inundation, DCs were tasked with formulating evacuation plans for low-lying areas and activating safe shelter centers for affected families.

To facilitate efficient resource allocation, Div Com urged the review and updating of Information Resource and Data Network (IRDN) to provide stakeholders and agencies with timely information.

As a precautionary measure, school closures were ordered for Tuesday across all districts of Kashmir Division.

Assuring improvement, the Director IMD forecasted better weather conditions starting midnight, while CE I&FC confirmed that the water level in Jhelum remained below the danger mark.
