Srinagar, June 21(KINS): In a significant development for the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, train services are expected to commence between Baramulla in Kashmir and Reasi in Jammu during the first week of July.
Official sources told KINS that this 272-km rail corridor, which aims to enhance connectivity and economic integration in the region, is nearing completion with only a 17-km section between Reasi and Katra remaining to be operational.
Sources also stated that the final section will be completed within the next six months.
Upon completion, the rail link will facilitate direct train services between Baramulla/Srinagar in Kashmir and major destinations such as Jammu, New Delhi, and Kanyakumari. The full operation of the route is slated for before December 31, 2024.
This development marks a crucial milestone in the USBRL project, promising to boost tourism and trade, and provide travelers with a more efficient mode of transportation across the Jammu and Kashmir.
