SANJY-2024 Preparedness: IGP Kashmir Zone Chairs Meeting at Police Control Room

Srinagar, June 25: Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi, assessed the arrangements for the peaceful conduct of SANJY-2024 during a meeting held yesterday at the Conference Hall of Police Control Room, Kashmir.

The meeting included the attendance of DIG Central Kashmir Range, DIG North Kashmir Range, DIG South Kashmir Range, all district SSPs of Kashmir Zone, SSP Traffic City, SSP Traffic Rural, SSP Security, SSP APCR, and SP Telecommunication.

At the start, participating officers briefed IGP Kashmir through PowerPoint presentations on their district-specific security plans and arrangements for the smooth conduct of Amarnath Yatra-2024.

IGP Kashmir closely examined the SOPs for coordinating security efforts and managing operational, natural, and manmade disasters. Emphasizing the safe and secure movement of pilgrims, he reviewed the deployment and readiness of Road Opening Parties, stressing vigilant patrolling and highway monitoring. He also called for robust night dominations to prevent any untoward incidents.

IGP Kashmir reviewed the schedule and cutoff timings for vehicle-bound and foot yatra to maintain a structured and secure pilgrim flow. He instructed mock drills based on SOPs to evaluate their effectiveness and identify improvement areas. DIG SKR and DIG CKR were directed to assess High-Density Counter Operation Plans in their zones for comprehensive security coverage and timely threat response. He emphasized strengthening the security grid and checking Anti National Elements (ANEs) and terrorist associates through actionable intelligence.

IGP Kashmir urged officers to remain vigilant and proactive, emphasizing coordination and timely threat response. He also instructed robust security measures at all camping sites, including CCTV installation at strategic locations, and ensuring adequate manpower at each yatra camp.

The meeting concluded with IGP expressing confidence in the police’s capability to provide a safe, smooth, and secure environment for the yatra, allowing pilgrims to undertake their spiritual journey with peace of mind.
