Police Attach Properties Worth Crores of Notorious Drug Peddler in Kulgam

Srinagar, July 12: Continuing its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, the police in Kulgam have attached properties worth crores belonging to a notorious drug peddler on the National Highway in Qazigund, Kulgam.
Under the supervision of SSP Kulgam, the police attached properties, including a double-storied residential house and a residential-cum-commercial house, measuring 3457 square feet and valued at 3 crores. These properties belonged to Abdul Rashid Rather, also known as Mathur, son of Ghulam Hassan Rather, a resident of Bonigam Qazigund, Kulgam. The action was taken under Section 68-F(2) of the NDPS Act 1985.
The properties were identified as illegally acquired through illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. Abdul Rashid Rather is currently detained under the PIT NDPS Act and is lodged at Central Jail Kot Balwal Jammu. He is involved in Case FIR No. 128/2020 and Case FIR No. 227/2023 of Police Station Qazigund.
This operation reaffirms the commitment of the police to combat the drug menace. Local residents have praised the police initiative.
