Srinagar, Sep 22 (KINS): The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has informed that it achieved a significant milestone by completing 100 rooftop solar installations under the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Yojana.
The PM Surya Ghar Yojana aims to empower consumers by offering subsidies and financial assistance to install solar panels on their rooftops, reducing dependence on conventional electricity sources.
The initiative is a key step towards addressing climate change, promoting energy self-reliance, and ensuring cost-effective electricity for households and businesses across the region.
Top officials from KPDCL expressed their pride and optimism over the successful implementation of the solar program.
“The adoption of solar energy not only reduces electricity costs for consumers but also contributes to a cleaner environment for future generations. We are excited about this journey toward making Jammu and Kashmir a green energy hub,” one of the officials of KPDCL told news agency KINS.
“Our target is to install solar rooftops in every possible household. The green energy transition is inevitable, and we are here to lead the way for our consumers, providing them with efficient and sustainable solutions,” the official added.
Several beneficiaries of the program have already experienced a reduction in their electricity bills, further increasing enthusiasm for solar adoption in the region.
Mushtaq Ahmad, a Srinagar resident who recently installed solar panels, said:
“The Surya Ghar Yojana has made it easy for us to embrace solar power. Our electricity costs have dropped significantly, and it feels good to contribute to environmental conservation.”(KINS)
