Srinagar, Oct 20 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Bollywood actor Sunil Shetty kicked off the Kashmir Marathon today, an event that attracted athletes and runners from all over the world.
Speaking at the event, Sunil Shetty as per news agency KINS, praised the lively atmosphere, saying, “It’s an amazing atmosphere. The kids and the runners are full of energy. Running through this paradise is something special. It’s really great to see so many participants.”
He added, “I hope Kashmir becomes a place where people come every year. It’s truly a paradise for the world.” Sunil Shetty also admired the marathon’s organization and the beauty of the track, calling it “one of the most beautiful tracks in the world to run.”
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah even joined the run with other athletes, boosting the excitement.
The marathon, set against the stunning scenery of Kashmir, was seen as a symbol of peace and hope, promoting sports tourism in the Union Territory.
The event was a big success, with both participants and spectators enjoying the combination of sport and nature.
The highly anticipated event saw participants from 13 countries and elite athletes from 29 states and Union Territories across India.
News agency KINS reported that to ensure the safety and well-being of the athletes, a 20-bed medical camp was set up at Polo View, where healthcare professionals will provide first aid and emergency treatment during the race.
Officials had confirmed that 59 international athletes are among those competing in this historic event.
Authorities had made extensive security and logistical arrangements to ensure the marathon runs smoothly, with volunteers, medical teams, and law enforcement personnel stationed throughout the route.(KINS)
