Tarigami Challenges J&K LG to present five-year ‘Report Card’ in Assembly

Srinagar, Nov 8: CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami on Friday urged the Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Jammu and Kashmir to present a comprehensive ‘report card’ of the administration’s performance over the past five years.

Speaking during the Assembly’s vote of thanks after the LG’s address, Tarigami questioned the LG’s repeated use of “my government,” implying that the administration’s achievements—or lack thereof—are directly linked to the LG’s leadership. “If it’s his government, let him present a five-year report card. How many people visited the secretariat during this time?” Tarigami asked.

In his critique, Tarigami also pointed out the level of influence exerted over regional media, alleging that publications were directed on details as specific as the size of the LG’s photograph on front pages. He further challenged the LG on employment issues, demanding answers regarding the number of people terminated under his administration.

While the LG continues to emphasize job creation, Tarigami’s comments highlighted a demand for accountability and transparency from the administration, particularly concerning employment and media influence.
