J&K Cong chief dismisses speculations about joining Omar Abdullah-led Govt
‘Indian Muslims should not be subjugated’

Srinagar, Dec 10 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir Congress Chief Tariq Hamid Karra has dismissed speculations about the possibility of Congress joining Omar Abdullah-led government.
Addressing a press conference after chairing a meeting, Karra clarified the situation, stating, “As PCC Chief, no one has contacted me regarding this matter,” according to the news agency KINS.
When asked about the issue of Rohingya refugees in Jammu, Karra stated the party’s commitment to international conventions that mandate basic amenities for refugees. However, he expressed concerns over the BJP and RSS’s alleged attempts to fuel Islamophobia, warning that such actions could negatively impact Indian Muslims. “Our concern is that Indian Muslims should not be subjugated under any pretext,” he stated.
On the issue of reservation policy, Karra called the need to complete a population census before making any decisions.
Regarding recent internal party changes, he refrained from detailed comments but remarked, “I don’t want to talk about those who are deadwood in the Congress party.”
Earlier, during a review meeting, Karra stressed the importance of grassroots-level engagement to promote the Congress party’s philosophy and ideology. He outlined strategies to connect with people culturally and religiously while leveraging the growing positivity toward Congress in the region. (KINS)
