Srinagar Police Seizes 4 Heavy Vehicles Involved in Illegal Mining, Heavy Fine Imposed in Ongoing Crackdown

Srinagar, Jan 28 (KINS): In a major operation against illegal mining, Srinagar police have seized four heavy vehicles involved in the transportation of illegal mining materials in two separate raids carried out by PS Nowgam. The vehicles were found transporting unauthorized mining material, leading to the registration of two separate FIRs—FIR No. 13/25 under sections 223, 303(2) and FIR No. 14/25 BNS.
The raids are part of the police’s ongoing drive against the mineral mafia in the region. As a result of the crackdown, one JCB machine was also seized. The mining department has imposed a penalty of ₹32,214 for the illegal activities discovered during the raid.
Authorities have urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to illegal mining to the police. “All those involved in such unlawful activities will be dealt with firmly as per the law,” said the police in a statement.(KINS)
