LG Manoj Sinha chairs high-level security review meeting in Kashmir

Says, ‘those supporting and financing terrorism will have to pay a very heavy price’

Srinagar, Feb 12 (KINS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday chaired a high-level security review meeting in Srinagar.

Officials said that the meeting was attended by senior officials, including Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vidhi Kumar Birdi, and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) from across the region.

Sources revealed that the meeting, convened shortly after the LG’s return from New Delhi, focused on assessing the current security landscape with particular emphasis on counter-terrorism operations and the anticipated challenges in the coming months.

The situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and the need for heightened vigilance along the borders and within the hinterland were key points of discussion.

“We must remain vigilant and proactive,” LG Sinha emphasized during the meeting.

Sources informed KINS that the LG directed the J&K Police and other security forces to intensify efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and take decisive action against those aiding and abetting terrorism.

DGP Nalin Prabhat provided a comprehensive briefing on the measures being implemented to thwart terror activities.

“We are committed to a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism,” DGP Prabhat , assured the LG.

Sources further indicated that security forces have been granted a free hand to neutralize the terror ecosystem operating covertly. The meeting also addressed the growing use of cyberspace by disruptive elements for propaganda and coordination of terror activities. LG Sinha instructed senior officials to implement robust measures to counter the misuse of digital platforms.

“Those supporting and financing terrorism will face severe consequences,” LG Sinha asserted. “We must aggressively counter fundamentalist and extremist ideologies and ensure that law enforcement agencies are well-equipped to tackle both physical and digital threats.”

“Our primary goal is to ensure the safety and security of every citizen in Jammu and Kashmir,” LG Sinha concluded. “We will leave no stone unturned in our fight against terrorism.”

Sources added that IGP Kashmir presented key challenges, achievements, and future strategies. The LG expressed satisfaction with the police’s performance, particularly in cases under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He urged closer coordination among police divisions to combat terrorism effectively.

Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the LG noted Jammu & Kashmir’s progress towards peace and prosperity, stressing the importance of intelligence coordination and precision in anti-terror operations. He also instructed strict enforcement of property attachments in terror and narco-terror cases and called for comprehensive strategies to neutralize foreign terrorists.

Additionally, the LG urged the police to build public trust, ensure community engagement, and maintain a strong focus on public safety.

The meeting was also attended by ADGP Headquarters MK Sinha; ADGP CID Nitish Kumar; Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari; IGP Crime Dr. Sunil Gupta; IGP Security Sujit Kumar; IGP Railways Vivek Gupta; Range DIGs; SSPs; Commandants of AP/IR Battalions; and various other senior officers of J&K Police, both in person and through virtual mode.(KINS)
