Census 2027 covers Army, CAPFs in J&K, Ladakh

Jammu, Oct 06 (KINS): Census authorities have completed population enumeration of the Army, CAPFs and other Central forces under Census 2027 in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Director of Census Operations Amit Sharma said on Tuesday.
Sharma said the exercise covered 125 special charges in J&K and 47 in Ladakh and was conducted through paper schedules due to security concerns. The data will now be digitised by the concerned establishments and securely integrated into the main Census database.
He said regular coordination with the Ministry of Defence helped facilitate the collection of data from the Army through its central database.
Sharma also clarified that the Census and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls are separate exercises, with the Census conducted under the Ministry of Home Affairs and SIR undertaken by the Election Commission of India. (KINS)
