Srinagar, Oct 06 (KINS): Orphans in Need, supporting orphaned children and widows on Tuesday distributed kitchen and other essential household items among around 2000 widowed women at Hajj House, Srinagar, as part of its ongoing welfare initiatives for underprivileged families.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman of Orphans in Need, Sheikh Anis Musa said the organisation has been making continuous efforts to reach out to families facing financial difficulties and provide them with essential support.
He said the organisation is currently extending assistance to nearly 10,000 beneficiaries through various welfare programmes.
The Chairman also highlighted the organisation’s educational support programme, saying scholarships are being provided to children from underprivileged families. Under the initiative, each beneficiary child receives a monthly scholarship of ₹1,900 to help meet educational expenses.
The initiative was appreciated by those present, who lauded Orphans in Need for its humanitarian work and welfare activities across India, including Jammu and Kashmir. They said such initiatives provide meaningful support to vulnerable sections of society and expressed hope that the organisation would continue expanding its outreach.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and Dr Indresh Kumar were also present on the occasion, along with other officials and members of civil society. (KINS)
