Doctors remove snake-like worm from Banihal boy’s nose

KINS Desk

Anantnag, Feb 18 (KINS):  Doctors at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag successfully removed a 9 to 10 cm-long snake-like worm from the nostril of a nine-year-old boy from Banihal, Ramban district.

The child had been experiencing weight loss and a reduced appetite in recent days.

His parents, alarmed after spotting a tail-like structure protruding from his nostril on multiple occasions, took him to the hospital for medical evaluation.

Upon examination, ENT resident Dr. Krishanjeet Singh suspected the presence of a large worm inside the nasal passage. The case was then discussed with the Head of the ENT Department, Dr. Aamir Yousuf, before a medical team used suction to carefully extract the wriggling parasite.

A video captured during the procedure showed a doctor holding the live worm with forceps, resembling a miniature black snake. “The specimen will be sent for forensic analysis to confirm its exact nature,” Dr. Singh told news agency KINS.

Following the successful removal of the worm, the child was discharged in stable condition. Meanwhile, Principal and Dean of GMC Anantnag, Professor Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb, commended the ENT department for its dedicated service to patients. (KINS)
