J&K April 21 (KINS): In a heartwarming yet challenging tale of determination, Hashkoor Ahmad, a resident of Ramban district, walked several kilometres to reach his bride’s home for his wedding after landslides and debris blocked roads in the area.
Hashkoor was scheduled to get married on April 21 in Neel Gaganaan village. With the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway blocked due to incessant rains triggering landslides, the groom had no choice but to travel on foot for most of the journey.
“We left our home at 6 am. The roads were impassable, so walking was the only option,” Hashkoor told news agency KINS.
After the wedding, Hashkoor and his bride had to trek several kilometres on foot to return home. “Walking is not difficult for us as we live in the mountains—this is part of our daily life. But our guests faced difficulties,” he said while navigating the debris-laden highway.
Hashkoor appealed to the government to expedite road clearance efforts. “There are many people stuck in traffic, including children and elderly passengers in buses, unable to move. Authorities must act swiftly,” he said. (KINS)
