Srinagar, July 05 (KINS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday visited Chandanwari to review the ground situation and assess pilgrim facilities for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026. He also inspected healthcare arrangements at the Base Hospital to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
During the visit, the Lieutenant Governor interacted with officials, pilgrims, volunteers, langar sevadars and other service providers. He directed Yatra management teams to closely monitor pilgrim feedback and remain available round the clock to provide prompt assistance.
“Through a seamless whole-of-government approach, we are leaving no stone unturned to provide excellent food and lodging facilities to the devotees of Lord Shiva. I want every Yatri to have a blissful darshan and a profoundly enriching spiritual experience,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor also inspected the Base Hospital at Chandanwari, reviewing healthcare arrangements for pilgrims. He toured the wards, laboratories and emergency units, and interacted with patients to assess the quality of medical care being provided.
He appreciated the dedication of doctors, paramedics and healthcare workers for ensuring quality healthcare services during the Yatra.
Officials informed the Lieutenant Governor that adequate stocks of medicines and essential medical equipment are available, while specialist doctors, nursing staff and paramedics have been deployed to provide prompt treatment. The hospital is providing comprehensive healthcare services to pilgrims, service providers and support staff, with the Outpatient Department (OPD) handling an average of 2,500 patients daily.
Speaking to the media, the Lieutenant Governor said he had witnessed a significant rise in the number of pilgrims this year after closely monitoring the Yatra over the past four years.
“The Administration, Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board and all stakeholders have made significantly better arrangements than in previous years. However, we are witnessing a large influx of unregistered pilgrims. I appeal to those without prior registration to remain patient and wait for their turn. The daily pilgrim cap for both the Chandanwari and Baltal routes is fixed and cannot be increased. Adhering to the prescribed protocols is essential for ensuring a safe, smooth and hassle-free pilgrimage for everyone,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor also highlighted that the 100-bed Base Hospital at Chandanwari, operational for the past two years, continues to provide vital healthcare services, while officials and staff from all departments are working tirelessly to ensure a seamless Yatra experience for every pilgrim.(KINS)
