LG Manoj Sinha reviews Amarnath Ji Yatra Management at Nunwan Base Camp, stresses pilgrim safety and action against fake registrations

Srinagar, July 05 (KINS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday visited the Nunwan Base Camp at Pahalgam to review the management and arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026. Accompanied by senior civil, police and Shrine Board officials, the Lieutenant Governor assessed security, pilgrim movement, accommodation, registration and other logistical arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
Chairing a high-level review meeting, the Lieutenant Governor directed officials to prioritize the safety, security and convenience of all pilgrims. He stressed the importance of ensuring that every devotee is informed about the requirement of valid registration for the designated yatra date to minimize waiting time and inconvenience.
“Maintain close coordination, remain available on the ground, and ensure prompt grievance redressal for pilgrims,” the Lieutenant Governor told the officials.
During his visit, the Lieutenant Governor also interacted with pilgrims and assured them that the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board and all departments associated with the yatra are working round the clock to provide a safe, smooth and hassle-free spiritual journey.
He instructed officers to adopt a pilgrim-centric approach and ensure that no devotee faces unnecessary inconvenience. He further directed that, where members of the same family arrive together but one person is unable to secure registration while others possess valid permits, every possible assistance should be extended to facilitate the family’s pilgrimage together in accordance with prescribed procedures.
Expressing serious concern over reports of fake registrations being facilitated by certain travel agents, the Lieutenant Governor directed the police and concerned authorities to identify those involved and initiate strict legal action against anyone found indulging in fraudulent registration practices.
The visit was attended by Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor and CEO, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari; IGP Kashmir V.K. Birdi; IGP Traffic M.
