Hajj 2027: J&K sees poor response as only 2,300 applications received against 8,000-seat quota
KINS Desk
Srinagar, July 15 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a poor response to Hajj 2027 applications, with only around 2,300 aspirants applying against the Union Territory’s quota of 8,000 seats, even as less than a week remains before the application deadline.
Official figures reveal that barely 29 percent of the allotted quota has been filled so far, raising concerns over the low turnout this year. Authorities are expecting more applications in the final days, but the current pace remains significantly below the available quota.
The deadline for submitting Hajj applications is fast approaching, and intending pilgrims have been urged to complete the application process well before the closing date to avoid last-minute technical issues.
Officials said the Hajj Committee continues to facilitate the application process and has appealed to eligible pilgrims across Jammu and Kashmir to submit their forms within the stipulated timeframe.
The reasons behind the low response are yet to be officially assessed. If the trend continues, a substantial number of seats under J&K’s Hajj quota may remain vacant. (KINS)
