Special Budgam–Katra Train introduced to assist stranded passengers after NH-44 closure

Srinagar, Aug 1 (KINS): In view of the closure of National Highway-44 (NH-44) between Srinagar and Jammu, the Railways has decided to operate a special train between Budgam (BDGM) and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) to facilitate stranded passengers and manage the heavy rush at railway stations.
According to an official communication, the decision was taken following a request from Commercial Control/JAT after the highway closure led to a significant increase in passenger traffic at Srinagar (SINA) and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) stations.
The special train will depart from Budgam at 1:00 pm, reaching Srinagar at 1:12 pm, Banihal at 2:15 pm, Sangaldan at 2:58 pm, and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 4:20 pm.
On the return journey, the train will leave Katra at 5:05 pm, arrive at Sangaldan at 5:50 pm, Banihal at 6:40 pm, Srinagar at 8:00 pm, and terminate at Budgam at 8:30 pm.
The special service has been introduced with the approval of the competent authority to provide relief to passengers affected by the disruption in road connectivity and ensure smooth movement between Kashmir and Jammu.(KINS)
