Bandipora, November 05: A programme jointly organised by the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) and the Tribal Affairs Department was held at the Mini Secretariat, Bandipora, on Thursday as part of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas 2026.

On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, distributed 27 Aadhaar tablets and 27 single fingerprint scanners among Anganwadi Workers from Gurez, Tulail, Bagtore, Arin, Aloosa, Bandipora, Sumbal and Hajin. The devices will facilitate Bal Aadhaar enrolment for children in the age group of 0–5 years.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need to achieve complete coverage under Bal Aadhaar enrolment and directed the concerned officials to ensure that designated Anganwadi Workers are notified at the grassroots level, with particular focus on tribal areas.

District Programme Officer ICDS, Bandipora, Yaar Ali Khan, informed that the devices had been provided to Anganwadi Workers who qualified the CELC Operator examination in accordance with UIDAI guidelines.

During the programme, the Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM) presented an overview of products manufactured by Self-Help Groups across the Union Territory. The display included handicrafts, traditional products, edible items and other locally manufactured goods, highlighting opportunities for livelihood generation and the promotion of the Vocal for Local initiative.

Emphasising the importance of women’s financial independence, the Deputy Commissioner called for greater support to women-led enterprises and livelihood activities. She directed the DPO ICDS to submit an action plan within 15 days and assured that training and capacity-building support would be extended to women interested in starting livelihood activities.

Books were also distributed among inmates of Gujjar and Bakarwal Boys Hostel, Bandipora, to encourage reading habits among tribal students.

Additional District Development Commissioner Nazir Ahmad Mir and Chief Planning Officer Muhammad Maqbool Lone were also present on the occasion.
