Srinagar, Sept 13 (KINS): Excitement is running high across Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory as cricket fans gear up for one of the sport’s most anticipated rivalries—India versus Pakistan—in the Asia Cup.
According to news gathering agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) the two teams will lock horns on Sunday evening at Dubai International Stadium, with millions of viewers worldwide expected to tune in.
Cricket experts believe that India’s deadly mix of gun batters and world- leading bowlers mean they will start as favourites in this big match.
In Srinagar, Jammu, and towns across the UT, the buzz is unmistakable. Local cricket clubs and playgrounds were alive with energy on Saturday, as young players honed their skills while discussing team strategies and favorite stars. Friendly banter between supporters of the two sides has already begun, setting the stage for what many describe as the “mother of all battles.”
“Cricket enthusiasts here follow the Indian team with unmatched passion. Before such matches, friends and families engage in light-hearted debates about who will dominate the field,” said Muzamil Showkat, a budding cricketer from Srinagar.
Cafes, restaurants, and households are making special arrangements for collective viewing. “I’m a huge fan of Shubman Gill. Fans are ready to rally behind their favorites and are expecting a thrilling contest,” said Khursheed Ahmad, another local cricketer.
While the atmosphere is electric, authorities urged citizens to exercise restraint on social media during the high-voltage encounter. Officials cautioned against the circulation of old, sensational or unverified videos and images that could spark unnecessary tensions.
“Such events attract enormous attention, and it has been observed that some social media users in the past have circulated misleading or outdated content to stoke emotions. We appeal to citizens not to indulge in this practice,” a top government official told KINS.
The police’s social media monitoring cell will remain vigilant throughout the event to curb the spread of misinformation. Authorities emphasized that while fans should enjoy the match with enthusiasm, maintaining peace and order must remain a collective responsibility.(KINS)
