Srinagar, Sep 25 (KINS): Police in Awantipora have arrested a Physical Education Teacher (PET) in connection with a case involving the alleged sexual harassment of a 15-year-old girl in the Aripal area of Tral.
According to a police statement, a written complaint was lodged at Police Post Aripal on September 24, 2026, alleging sexual harassment of a minor girl by Bilal Ahmad Lone, son of Gh. Nabi Lone, a resident of Darganigund. The accused is posted as a Physical Education Teacher at Government High School (GHS), Lam, Aripal.
Following the complaint, Police Station Tral registered FIR No. 107/2026 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. An investigation was subsequently initiated.
During the investigation, a police team led by the Incharge of Police Post Aripal undertook necessary legal proceedings. Police said that, based on technical and human intelligence, the involvement of the accused was established, following which he was apprehended and arrested.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
J&K Police reiterated its commitment to the safety and protection of children and stated that strict legal action would be taken against those involved in offences against minors in accordance with the law.(KINS)
