Srinagar, Oct 11 (KINS): The All India Congress Committee (AICC), through the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan (RGPRS), has announced its state- and district-level leadership in Jammu and Kashmir, marking a significant step towards strengthening the Congress party’s grassroots organisational network in the Union Territory.
The development comes in the wake of a recent circular issued by Lok Sabha MP and AICC General Secretary (Organisation) K. C. Venugopal, emphasising RGPRS’s role in the party’s planning and decision-making process concerning Panchayati Raj and municipal elections.
With the new organisational structure in place, RGPRS is expected to strengthen the Congress’s engagement with Panchayati Raj institutions, municipal bodies and grassroots workers across Jammu and Kashmir.
The initiative also reflects the party’s focus on decentralised governance, empowering local leadership and improving coordination between the party organisation and local self-government institutions ahead of forthcoming local body elections.
The formation of the RGPRS leadership structure, along with the AICC’s emphasis on its role in local electoral planning, is expected to support the Congress’s efforts to expand its grassroots presence and strengthen its engagement with local democratic institutions across Jammu and Kashmir.(KINS)
