Srinagar, Oct 16 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra has written to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, seeking his intervention into allegations of inappropriate conduct by a senior IAS officer towards woman officer Beenish Wani during a Mission YUVA review meeting held on October 14.
As per a press statement issued by the JKPCC, Karra expressed concern over a video circulating publicly and the alleged language used against the woman officer, along with reported directions to initiate action against her.
Karra also raised concerns over reported remarks regarding the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC), stressing the need to safeguard the credibility and independence of the constitutional body.
The JKPCC president has called for an impartial, time-bound inquiry, including an examination of the complete video recording, to establish the facts and determine whether any service rules or standards of official conduct were violated.
According to the statement, Karra also stressed that Beenish Wani must be protected from any alleged victimisation, intimidation or retaliatory administrative action. He maintained that any decision concerning her service should follow established procedures and applicable rules.
“Accountability cannot be selective, nor can administrative authority become a shield against scrutiny,” the statement quoted the JKPCC as saying.
The Congress party has expressed hope that the Lieutenant Governor will ensure a fair, transparent and time-bound examination of the matter, adding that accountability and respect for institutional integrity are essential in public service.(KINS)
