BJP’s Anwar Khan launches sharp attack on Omar Abdullah Government, raises concerns over roads, power tariffs, mining restrictions, unemployment and shortages of doctors, medicines and teachers in J&K

Srinagar, October 18: BJP Jammu and Kashmir General Secretary Anwar Khan has raised concerns over road conditions, electricity costs, mining-related livelihoods and public services, while criticising the Omar Abdullah-led government over its performance.
Speaking to News Agency KINS, Khan said people were facing problems due to poor roads and questioned the government’s progress on development works, particularly in Baramulla. He said the arrival of winter could make road construction more difficult.

Khan also criticised the government over electricity tariffs, claiming that higher costs were putting pressure on poor families. He expressed concern over patients who depend on electricity-powered medical equipment at home.
On mining, Khan said restrictions on the extraction of sand and stones were affecting labourers and families who depend on these activities for their income. He said the issue was especially serious ahead of winter, when work opportunities become limited.
The BJP leader also raised concerns over the availability of doctors and medicines in hospitals and teachers in schools, alleging that people were not receiving essential services properly.
Khan further criticised the government over its election promises, including those related to electricity and LPG cylinders, and alleged that several commitments had not been fulfilled.

Referring to the role of the Central Government, Khan said funds were being provided for development projects in Jammu and Kashmir but claimed that problems remained in their implementation by government departments.
Comments on Other Issues
Khan also condemned the reported attack on a bus carrying Kashmiri passengers in Haryana and called for strict action against those responsible. He said Kashmiris deserved safety, dignity and equal treatment.

On the controversy involving an IAS officer and a JKAS woman officer, Khan said the BJP opposed alleged misconduct by senior officers towards their subordinates. He said the party was waiting for the outcome of the inquiry and would demand accountability if wrongdoing was established.
Khan said the BJP would continue to raise public concerns and question the government over development, employment and basic services in Jammu and Kashmir.(KINS)
