SRINAGAR, April 17: Roads and Buildings Department said that restoration of dilapidated roads in Kashmir would start once the weather improves and temperature reaches to 25 degree Celsius.

Roads across Kashmir especially in Srinagar are in bad condition, giving a tough time to the commuters.

Roads are in bad condition in Bemina, Natipora, Lal Chowk, Safa Kadal, Rajbagh, Nishat, besides various areas in Srinagar.

The condition of roads is not better in other districts of Kashmir.

Chief Engineer, Roads and Buildings Sami Arif admitted that roads are in bad condition.

“Roads have been damaged by severe winter this season,” Arif told Kashmir In-Depth. “This is not appropriate time to repair the roads. We require 25 degree temperature for macdamisation of roads.  Presently it is not feasible to carry out repairing works on roads.”

Taking the cognizance of the bad situation of the roads in the district, the Srinagar district administration in an order issued to R&B Department on April 10 sort details about officials and contractors for criminal proceedings. Even former chief minister Omar Abdullah has expressed concern over bad condition of roads.
