April 25: On a credible input a cordon and search operation was launched at Bagender Mohalla Bijbehara area in District Anantnag, by Police and security forces.
During searches, terrorists fired upon the search party. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter.
In the ensuing encounter, 02 millitants were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter. Their identities and affiliations are being ascertained. Further search in the area is going on.
Incriminating material including arms and ammunition was recovered from the site of encounter. Police has registered a case.
Citizens are requested not to venture inside encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials. People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosive materials if any.
