Authorities Not Allowing Us To Move Towards Leh: Truck Drivers

Hundreds of truck drivers today protested against the Ganderbal district authorities for not allowing their trucks to move towards Leh despite opening of Srinagar-Leh highway few days ago.

The trucks drivers said that their vehicles laden with fruit, vegetables and other commodities are stranded from the last 20 days at Gund Kangan in Ganderbal district as the authorities are not allowing them to move towards Leh.

“The authorities should clearly tell us that whether we should move ahead or go back. The fruits and vegetables are rotting in the trucks and we are everyday loosing money from our own pockets. No official is communicating to us. We are worried about our livelihood and our vehicles,”.

The drivers said that they have heard that they will be allowed to move towards Leh after May 06 when the parliament elections conclude. They appealed the Governor Administration and Ganderbal administration for intervention.(KNS)
