SRINAGAR: Authorities have put the Hajis of Kashmir in inconvenience who are craving for basic facilities in Saudi Arabia.
A Haji told Kashmir In-Depth that they have been put up at a hotel in Azizia, which is in shambles.
” There is no electricity and we are provided muddy water,” the Haji said.
A video has also gone viral where the Hajis are seen saying, “We live under 48 degree Celsius without ACs.”
Hajis also say their hotels are 10 kilometres away from Haram and are not provided any transport facility to ferry them to Haram Sharif.
They said rooms which are suitable for four persons have been allotted to eight.
National Conference President and Member Parliament from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah has expressed dismay over the distressing complains of the Hajis from Kashmir over the lack of transport facilities including proper accommodation at Makkah and Madina.
While decrying the lack of facilities being given to the pilgrims’ the NC President said, “Hajj pilgrims are sending distressing messages to their kin back home about the scantiness of facilities being given to them at Makkah. The Hajis from Kashmir are complaining about the unavailability of transport including other basic facilities. The relatives of the Hajis from Kashmir are lamenting that the room arrangements for the Kashmiri pilgrims are pathetic, overcrowded,” he said.
Chief Executive Officer, JK State Hajj Committee, Abdul Salam Mir said they have raised the issue with Hajj Committee of India.
