Gunfight rages in Pulwama village

Srinagar : A gunfight broke out between government forces and militants in Wachi Letter village of Pulwama district in South Kashmir on Monday morning.

A senior police official said after receiving specific information about presence of militants in the area a joint team of 55-Rashtriya Rifles, J&K police’s SOG and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation.

However, as the joint team of forces zeroed-in on a house where militants are believed to be trapped, the militants fired upon the forces’ team, triggering the gunfight. He said the entire area has been cordoned and all exit routes in the area have been sealed.
