COVID-19: Two tested positive in Uri

Baramulla : Two persons in their fourties were tested positive for COVID-19 in Uri on Friday.

As per the officials, the duo had a travel history to Nizamuddin in Delhi.

“The infected persons were affiliated with Tableigi Jamaat and had attended many Ijtamas in Samba in Jammu district on 13th March,” said SDM Uri Reyaz Ahmad Malik.

He said that the group had held an Ijtama in Masjid Noor Uri on 17th March after returning from Samba in which around 120 people had participated.

“We have started a hunt to nab the others as well,” SDM said.

“On the directions of DC Baramulla, the area within 300 metres of Masjid Noor, Amlok Colony and Sultandaki Uri have been declared as red zone,” he said adding “all those who have attended the Ijtama of 17th March in Masjid Noor are asked to get themself screened”.

Giving further details on the samples taken for testing, SDM said that seven samples were send for testing. “Among that two have tested positive, two negative and three are awaited, ” he said.

The samples of the persons were taken on Thursday for the testing and whose results were out today.
