Sopore Police arrests two notorious drug peddlers, contraband substance recovered

April 11: Continuing its drive against drug dealings in Sopore, Police have arrested two notorious drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at Chinar crossing Warpora intercepted a Sumo vehicle bearing registration number JK06-2018 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Hilal Ahmad War resident of Warpora and Ishafq Ahmad Reshi resident of Watlab.

During checking, officers were able to recover 1300 grams of Charas from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Sopore where they remain in custody. Vehicle involved in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Case FIR No.71/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Sopore and further investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.“`
